Speaking

As a scholar at a publicly-funded research institution, I strongly believe that it's my responsibiliy to engage a wide range of publics to discuss my research and raise general public awareness of Chinese culture and religion. I make use of new media such as Facebook and Twitter to communicate with various communities, but I also enjoy public speaking in any number of contexts. In addition to my lecturing at Queen's University, I am active in speaking at academic conferences, and have made various keynote presentations in such contexts. I'm equally at home engaging with the general public, and I have give talks to various groups such as alumni associations, high schools and community groups.

My main expertise lies in communicating Chinese culture, philosophy and religion to non-Chinese people. I have thought deeply about how to do this over my many years of teaching, and most people find me to be a humorous, witty and passionate speaker. Please contact me if you would like me to speak at your event.
